Teesside Park is a large retail and leisure destination in Stockton on Tees. It is a famous landmark and offers well-known retail brands, eateries, leisure options, a cinema, and more. The business model requires a large car park and has 4000 spaces to meet various parking needs for all visitors and users.
The car park required separate areas for staff and customers because many people visit the landmark. Staff parking needs proper management. ANPR cameras ensured all staff vehicles remained on management’s allowed list.
The destination has multiple parking areas for different retail and food businesses on site. It meant dwell periods varied among different businesses and required a system to manage it.
Furthermore, the car park is always extremely busy, with a higher incidence of unauthorized parking. It was essential to resolve to manage space for genuine users and employees of the businesses.
To tackle unauthorised parking, we introduced manual patrolling in the venue. Highly trained parking attendants patrolled the car park to prevent unauthorised visitors.
The manual patrolling ensured blue badge and parent & child bays were monitored and space was available for designated visitors. Parent and child parking is the wider parking bays for people with young children under 12 years old.
We also added signage throughout the car park for parent and child parking for awareness and warning for unauthorised parking. So, if anyone were to misuse the car park, a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) would be issued to them.
To ensure businesses had the flexibility to manage their dwell periods and allow list, we set up an online system and handed over credentials. So, now business operators and managers of businesses have full control to add/remove their staff and contractors on the allow list for specific parking areas.
The solutions implemented have ensured Teesside Park’s smooth operation. The designated staff parking area with an easily manageable allow list system has ensured customer parking is available for customers only. The separated areas for customers and staff have minimised confusion among customers.
The manual patrolling and signage installed actively monitor and prevent unsociable parking. The blue badge parking and parent & child parking spaces are protected from unauthorised parking.
